Rise

Terms of use

Plain words, because you deserve to know what you’re agreeing to.

Who we are

Rise is made by Trint Saunders and Hayden Pugh (“we”). By using the app or this website, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Rise.

What Rise is, and isn’t

Rise is a spiritual companion for men who want to live in sexual purity: Scripture, honest tracking, and a way to reach people you trust. It is not therapy, counseling, medical care, or an emergency service. If you’re struggling with addiction, depression, or anything that feels beyond you, please talk to a counselor, doctor, or pastor you trust.

If you’re in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (US) or go to your nearest emergency room.

Your data

Everything you log stays on your device. Our privacy policy explains exactly what the app stores and why we never see it. You’re responsible for keeping your phone and any backup passphrase safe; we can’t recover a lost passphrase.

Allies and messages

When you use the ally text, you send it from your own phone, to people you chose. Please only add people who’ve agreed to hear from you. Your carrier’s normal messaging rates apply.

Sharing

You can share memory folders with friends. Please don’t use sharing to send anything harmful, hateful, or unlawful.

Scripture and our work

Scripture quotations are used with the publishers’ permission (ESV® by Crossway, NASB® by The Lockman Foundation). The app’s design, words, and code belong to us. You’re welcome to use Rise for your own life and to share it; please don’t copy or resell it.

The App Store

If you got Rise from Apple’s App Store, Apple’s standard license agreement for apps also applies. Apple isn’t responsible for Rise or its support; we are.

No guarantees

We work hard to make Rise reliable, but it’s provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. Reminders can be delayed or missed, messages can fail, and phones can break. Please don’t rely on Rise as your only safeguard.

Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from using Rise, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the past twelve months (Rise is free, so in most cases that’s zero).

Changes

We may update these terms as Rise grows. We’ll change the date below when we do, and for significant changes we’ll say so in the app or on this site.
